Description
The Fath Al Khair Center in the Wilayat of Sur, South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, is a cultural and historical landmark that showcases the Wilayat of Sur's maritime heritage. It was opened in November of last year to contribute to enhancing the Wilayat's tourism sector. It is a cultural and educational destination for visitors to the Wilayat and highlights the pioneering and cultural role played by Omanis in maritime navigation.
The center displays the collections of the Maritime Museum, which opened its first phase in 1988 with the aim of highlighting aspects of the social and maritime life of the Wilayat of Sur. Over the years, the museum has housed numerous artifacts collected and donated by the people of the Wilayat of Sur to showcase its maritime heritage and the stories of its people.
The center offers an opportunity to learn about marine life, the tools used in the construction of historic ships, the types of traditional ships, how they were built, used, and their types, as well as the characteristics of the captains and sailors who lived during that period.
